Compress an Image to 100 KB
Hit a 100 KB upload limit without sending the picture anywhere. The browser re-encodes the image until it fits, then stops — no more quality loss than the limit requires.

How it works
- Your browser reads the image from your disk. No network request carries the picture.
- It re-encodes at progressively smaller sizes and JPEG qualities until the file is under 100 KB. The first setting that fits is kept, so the result keeps as much detail as the target allows.
- You get the file and its final dimensions. If 100 KB cannot be reached honestly, the card shows the smallest result instead of claiming success.
What 100 KB actually gets you
A web-sized photo fits comfortably. An image around 1,000–1,200 pixels wide usually lands under 100 KB as JPEG with little visible loss. A 12-megapixel phone photo is scaled down to reach the same number: faces and large shapes stay clean, fine texture softens.
A photo saved as PNG will probably miss the target. PNG stores every pixel losslessly, so a detailed picture stays large even after scaling. Switch the output to JPEG and the same image fits easily. Choose PNG only when transparency matters more than the limit.
The form's “100 KB” may mean 102,400 bytes. This tool counts 1 KB as 1,000 bytes, the stricter reading: a 100 KB result here is at most 100,000 bytes, so it passes either definition.
Nothing is uploaded, and the target is an upper bound. The file stops just under 100 KB rather than at exactly 100 KB, which is what an upload form checks. EXIF, GPS location and camera details are not copied, because the output is rebuilt from the decoded pixels.

Questions
Is my image uploaded?
No. The page reads the file with your browser and re-encodes it in this tab. Open the Network panel in developer tools and compress a picture: no request carries the image.
Will the file be exactly 100 KB?
It lands at or just below 100 KB. The tool stops at the first setting that fits, because an upload form checks the ceiling, not the exact number.
Why is my PNG still over 100 KB?
PNG is lossless, so a photographed scene stays large. Choose JPEG output; the same picture can drop to a fraction of the size. Keep PNG only for transparency or flat-colour graphics.
Can I keep the original dimensions?
Only if the picture fits the budget at those dimensions. Otherwise it is scaled down, and the result card shows the width and height it used. Pick a larger target if the first result is too soft.
Does it remove EXIF and GPS?
Yes. The output is a new file built from decoded pixels, so EXIF, GPS, camera model and capture time are not copied.
What if my image is already under 100 KB?
It never returns a file larger than the one you gave it. If re-encoding cannot beat the original, it says so and leaves the original alone.
